Diary of a Staines man

What a relief!

Phew…never in doubt...no sweat...celebration!

All Swans were very glad to hear Stuart on the PA after the game saying Staines will be playing in the conference South next season! We only needed a point after a thrilling last minute winner at fellow - shall I dare say - strugglers - basement battle-game at Billericay last Tuesday. I did not even see the game advertised as a massive or must win game but what a cushion if we could obtain maximum points and that of course is what we did.

So at home to Bath City on Saturday in front of a good crowd an even that round yellow thing about 93 million miles away was at the game to try and see us obtain at least a point. The performance was a bit typical of a lot of our games at home this season and the 3-1 defeat certainly confirmed this. Perhaps we were not used to playing on a warm day. But all the teams around us lost so we did not even need that point so a bit of a mixed reaction. It would have been a great atmosphere if we had won this game.

Tomorrow we entertain Dover who are looking for a point to cement their play off position which I am sure they will obtain - hopefully not at our expense! - and then we visit Eastbourne on Saturday to complete our fixture list for the season.
