Diary of a Staines man

A very entertaining game on Tuesday beating Hayes and Yeading in the semi final of the Middlesex (county) Senior cup so a cup final looms for the mighty Swans on Easter Monday when we play our quiet neighbours Ashford Town at Uxbridge FC. Ashford are a couple of levels below us in the non league pyramid so we should be firm favourites to win the game. 2-0 at half time with decent goals by Beadle and Wheeler but H&Y soon came back to level the scores but Tyrone Marsh had other ideas and Unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box hitting the back of the net with force and somehow we held on for a 3-2 win.

On Saturday play off contenders Chelmsford were the visitors who must have brought a good 100 plus fans with them and both teams must have read the script as of course we lost 3-1, one of our popular scores this season. Troy Ferguson was his usual hussling self and scored our goal with a left foot shot from outside the area which did take a deflection and received a nasty injury near the end of the game which resulted in the Chelmo's captain receiving a red card. The Non League Paper gave Troy the man of the match award but his hobbling around after the game seems to suggest he may be out of action for a while. Hopefully of course the injury is not as bad as it looks!

We do not have a midweek fixture but there are a few others on Tuesday for teams playing catch up so I will have to look at the league table again on Wednesday to see our Updated position. Next Saturday we visit fellow basement team Billericay for a... oh alright, I will say it...a must win game so we will be looking for those three points to bring back home.
