On my last article I ended by saying no pressure on the club in our progress in various competitions - perhaps I should have thought of something else - a home defeat against Bromley in the trophy replay started the ball rolling or not as the case may be . A very disappointing performance by the mighty Swans and Marcus vented his anger in all reports - suggesting the players could not perform basis instructions.
Like pass to the bloke next to you I suppose let alone try and score. So we are out at the first attempt of both FA competitions with no prize Money or pride. Onto to a fairly local derby game at Farnborough on Saturday and a much improved first half and dare I say it enjoyable as well we could easily have been 3-1 up at the interval instead of 0-0. Second half soon started and the game drifted away in Farnborough's favour and the defeat followed swiftly despite our penalty in the last minute or so.
Back on Wednesday our youth team competed in the FA youth cup 2nd round at league side Bristol Rovers. A 3-0 defeat but a generally fine and proud performance. A pity our centre forward missed the game through injury and our inside forward hobbled off so no real test for their defenders. But we were all proud of the team as we should for reaching this stage of a national competition. Anyway at least the food and drink inside the ground (they only opened one side) was better and cheaper than London/Surrey prices !
We are without a game this Saturday as it is kept free for Blue Square Conference teams as it is the next round of the FA Trophy and of course we decided to give this competition as miss this year - perhaps we can play Barcelona in a friendly as I am sure they need the practice as well but more likely our next game will be at home to Sutton on DEC 1ST.
(So next update will probably in about 2 weeks unless something happens which we don’t know yet)
