Diary of a Staines man

Wednesday October 3rd

Hayes and Yeading away: I had ”that” feeling right from the start of the game at the Woking ground, where H&Y currently play their homes games. It is closed on two sides of their ground so everybody were standing behind the covered terrace or sitting in the two small stands along the side. The game kicked off and we were defending the covered area so we were behind our goalkeeper – well that’s no good in non league football so I decided to sit in one of the small stands nearest to the goal we were attacking as possible – and of course just when I settled in my seat we were one down. I was talking to a friend of the goal scorer before the game who was a bit annoyed he did not receive a free match ticket – HE was annoyed! Two nil down soon followed and we missed a couple of wonderful chances but so did they I suppose – HT could have been 3-0 or 2-2 – depends on they way you see it – so I sulked away at HT behind the goal H&Y were now defending…4-0 now with a couple of even better chanced missed by us…could have been 4-4! .............I am sure their fans would agree with me!......I am trying to take some positives out of the game – very difficult to find. We had a free Saturday (6th Oct) since our early exit from the FA cup and we travel to big spending Eastleigh on Wednesday. They sacked their manager after only a few games after their poor start early in the season – some managers as you will know no have no real chance of survival – the bigger the club etc. Then home this Saturday to AFC Hornchurch as I am sure some of you have this date in your diary. Not sure when the next article will be as I am away for a couple days (from Sunday) watching my new blues rock chic Joanne Shaw Taylor (UK tour 2013 ) blasting out some vibes. Perhaps the next article will be in your native tongue from the visit to fortress Nou camp Wheatsheaf lane……
