Positive vibes from a very good performance at Bath on Saturday with a deserved 1-0 win. Bath, who have some financial problems, advertised for as many supporters to come along to watch this particular game, especially local league team Bristol Rovers who played their home games at Bath's ground a few years ago. Bristol Rovers played on Friday evening and full credit to their supporters who turned up in numbers with their colours to enjoy the game (and the beer in the clubhouse) - It was like watching three teams playing!
The game was played in a very sporting manner and everyone seemed to enjoy the game. I thought all our players played very well and a great team performance with our supporters naming Ashley Lodge (1st conference start - he was with us a couple of years ago in the youth and reserves - in fact I voted for him a "reserve players of the year") and new much needed Forward Tyrone Marsh (on loan from league side Oxford United until the end of the season) who had a few chances to score and with two minutes to go he did as the top two players.
Hence the Swans fans headed for a quick rush to the bar for a celebration pint. Needless to say they ran out of draught beer so I had a can instead. Who let all these Bristol Rovers fans in drinking what I wanted?
We are now hitting the dizzy heights of 13th in the league table which is a bit false as I have mentioned before. We have played more games than anyone. All the catch up midweek games during February will then show a more realistic league table.
I now feel we have a good team (IE the starting XI - my only concern is the "second" striker position) We have the next round of the county cup game at home on Tuesday v Harefield who are a few levels below us before the visit of Eastleigh on Saturday where some people who will be reading this will be in attendance to witness another home win and a further move up the table!
