Diary of a Staines man

Yesterday evening was the Staines Town FC supporters club questions and answers (Q&A) with the new owners and football manager - or head coach to use the modern term. A good number of supporters in attendance – more than I thought.

The owners talked about what they have in mind for the club on and off the pitch. A fair bit was on the new website and how to attract more supporters – the same old question – along with the design of the new team kit – and improving/updating  the ground. With the usual good old lick of paint all around and the manager’s dug outs will be moved in front of the stand this season amongst other things.

The new website I understand will be up and running soon in time for the first friendly I would imagine but one point of interest they mentioned will be “live streaming on the website” – I think I know what that means ! – of all the games homes and away and the owners mentioned that our supporters in Sweden will be interested in that!..........so the new owners know who you are already and know where you live!

They have done their homework and looked at local interests/area and have said they have been at the club every day. So that confirms their interest and commitment and they said they are looking for Staines to be a football league club in 10 years time so watch this space!

Have a good summer and hope to see our Swedish friends in the autumn for a league game. I know a few are coming to see the friendly v QPR (QPR are also playing the next day but it billed as a first team friendly for them).

I have heard a rumour that England and Sweden are still in the world cup but I have to have check that to see if it is true – I am sure someone in the wee and pea pub will confirm this.
